Wolverhampton Wanderers are in talks with Arsenal to sign goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on a loan deal with the option to buy.
The 26-year-old has been surplus to requirements at the Emirates Stadium due to the arrival of David Raya from Brentford, who initially joined on loan before making the move permanent earlier this summer.
Ramsdale joined Arsenal from Sheffield United in 2021 for £30 million and has made 89 appearances for the Gunners.
Arsenal are willing to negotiate a permanent move or a loan deal with the option to buy, but Wolves are now offering an initial loan agreement.
The West Midlands club is looking to improve its goalkeeping options, and Ramsdale’s experience and quality make him an appealing candidate.
Meanwhile, Arsenal is looking for Ramsdale replacements, including Espanyol’s Joan Garcia.
The Gunners want to make sure they have a quality goalkeeper in case Ramsdale leaves. Ajax is still interested in signing Ramsdale, despite having a loan deal rejected earlier this month.
However, Wolves are now in the driving seat, and talks between the two teams are underway.
With two years remaining on his current contract, Ramsdale, who was a member of England’s Euro 2024 squad could be able to restore his form and possibly seek a recall to the national team by joining Wolves.
