We’ve rescued over 500 victims from kidnappers, says Katsina Police

The Katsina State Police Command has successfully freed 516 abducted victims from their captors between January and June, 2024.

During the review time, the police also revealed that they had detained over 500 kidnapped suspects. Investigations in Katsina reveal that weapons used by terrorists during their heinous crime, as well as rustled animals by bandits, were recovered.


These included one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), eight AK 47 Rifles, one English pistol, more than 700 rounds of live ammunition, and 2,508 rustled animals in connection with banditry.

According to the data, over 300 occurrences of banditry have been reported to the police since January. Similarly, around 480 people were charged in court.

No women were among the suspects. In an interview with the representative of the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, and his 2i/c, ASP Shehu S. Funtua, on how many females were among the kidnapped victims, said, “Most of the time, they are in numbers, not gender.
