Naomi Campbell has been banned from being a UK charity trustee for five years after a UK watchdog found that the charity’s funds were spent on unrelated charity trustee activities like luxury spa treatments bills and hotels bills.
The UK Charity Commission revealed that upon investigation only 8.5% of the charity’s overall expenditure went on charitable grants in a six-year period from 2016 to 2021.
It added that a major portion of the charity funds were utilized to cover Campbell’s luxurious hotel stay, spa treatment, and cigarettes.
In reaction to the sanction the super model while speaking in an interview with AP, expressed her concern about the inquiry findings, saying that she was not in control of the charity funds but had left it in the hands of a legal employer.
In her words: “I have just found out about the findings today. And I am extremely concerned.
“I wasn’t in control of my charity, I put the control in the hands of a legal employer.”
