Barcelona ha been banned by UEFA from selling next Champions League away game to fans and also to pay a 10,000-euro ($11,000) fine for the racist flag displayed by their fans during their last game.
Fans of the Spanish club carried a “Flick Heil” placard, mirroring the Nazis’ “Sieg Heil,” in reference to their club’s German coach, Hansi Flick, when they played at Monaco on September 19.
According to UEFA the team’s fan base were guilty of “racism and other discriminatory conduct,” and the disciplinary action will take effect on November 6 when Barcelona plays Red Star Belgrade.
The club in a statement said it rejected any justification for violence and will comply with the sanction given them. And also plans to strengthen measures and implement further initiatives to prevent future incidents.
The statement reads: “FC Barcelona reject any type of justification for violence will both comply with and apply this sanction.
“The club is set to strengthen current measures and adopt suitable further initiatives to prevent future occurrences and apply sanctions to those responsible”.
