Howard Stern, a SiriusXM radio personality, claimed that he does not “hate” former President Trump, but rather his supporters.
Stern reacted to Trump’s “I hate Taylor Swift” post on Truth Social over the weekend, He told his listeners, “This whole idea of you like me, you are good, and if you don’t, you are bad… I’ve been the victim of this.
“I don’t agree with Trump politically, I don’t think he should be anywhere near the White House. I don’t hate the guy. I hate the people who vote for him. I think they’re stupid. I do. I’ll be honest with you, I have no respect for you,” he said on “The Howard Stern Show.”
The radio shock jock said he expects “hate mail” from people who support Trump and stated he doesn’t mind losing “half of his listeners” who don’t share his political beliefs. In addition, he criticized celebrities for failing to oppose the GOP nominee on Sunday night at the 2024 Emmy Awards.
“You can’t be a p—y your whole f—ing life,” Stern said.
Later in the discussion, a Michigan caller compared Trump’s language toward immigrants to Adolf Hitler’s tirade against Jews during the Holocaust. “I couldn’t agree with you more,” Stern said. “It’s the same playbook. We have seen it before in history. “Hitler was considered a clown in Germany… He was one of these buffoonish figures. Somehow, he won an election. And that marked the end of Germany. “He dragged them to hell and back.
“This does feel like a replay of pre-World War II,” Stern said. “I am one of those people who believe that if the election goes the wrong way, it’s the end of the United States.”
Stern told listeners he felt no duty to give them airtime because “I’m smarter than you, I just am,” adding that he was probably fielding a ton of phone calls from people wanting to trash his political views.
Three days have passed since the former president was the target of a second assassination attempt. Firefighter Corey Comperatore, a Trump supporter, was shot and killed during the initial attempt at the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump attributed the threats on his life to “rhetoric” from the left, which portrays him as a risk to democracy, in an interview with Fox News Digital on Monday.
Stern’s hatred for Trump supporters is not new. He echoed a similar view before the 2020 election, saying, “I don’t hate Donald.” I despise you for voting for him and for lacking intelligence.
For being unable to see what is happening with the coronavirus and what the Justice Department is doing. I absolutely despise you. “I do not want you here.” Stern has been accused of becoming “woke,” which he considers a “compliment” because he is “not for stupidity.”
“To me the opposite of woke, is being asleep. And if woke means I can’t get behind Trump, which is what I think it means, or that I support people who want to be transgender or I’m for the vaccine, dude, call me woke as you f—— want,” Stern said last year.
