The wife of the Nigerian President, Oluremi Tinubu has donated N50,000 each to 1,000 less-privileged women in Nasarawa State to alleviate the hardships faced by citizens.
The First Lady represented by Silifat Abdullahi-Sule, the Wife of the Nasarawa State Governor presented the cash gifts to beneficiaries who were drawn from rural communities the across 13 Local Government Areas of the state.
Silifat Abdullahi-Sule while speaking to the beneficiaries in the state’s government house told them the First lady had provided N50,000 for 1,000 women, with the focus being on the grassroots to empower, alleviate suffering and boost their rural economic activities.
She said, “Senator Oluremi Tinubu gave us N50,000 for each of the 1,000 of you. The empowerment is particularly for women at the grassroots. It aims to alleviate the suffering of less-privileged women and to boost their economic activities in rural areas.
“The women living in the urban areas are not part of this empowerment programme. As I speak now, the gesture is simultaneously going on across the country.”
She urged the beneficiaries to spend the money wisely to improve their lives in order to justify the President’s wife efforts.
Hanatu Luka of Obi LGA expressed gratitude to the president’s wife for the wonderful gesture. Stating that the funds distributed to them (beneficiaries) did not only put a smile on their faces, but would also promote their economic activities.
