President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for his victory in the just concluded Edo State governorship election, stating that the victory demonstrated the people’s support for the ruling party’s progressive ideals, economic reengineering program, and commitment to improving Nigerians’ lives.
Senator Okpebholo was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday for winning 11 out of the 16 local governments in Edo states.
The president urged Okpebholo to view the election as a call to duty and to show benevolence by unifying the people of Edo State for progress.
He praised the APC national leaders, Edo State leaders, party governors for their efforts and also thanked other candidates for their efforts to the advancement of Nigerian democracy, claiming that peaceful political competitions represent the country as stable.
He urged individuals who were upset by the election results to seek legal redress.
Tinubu further commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the people of Edo State during the recent election, highlighting the maturation of Nigeria’s democracy after 25 years.
He equally hailed the INEC and security agencies for their tireless efforts in a successful, peaceful, and largely successful exercise.
