Taraba Governor's Sister Dies After Police Escort Mistakenly Shot Her

Atsi Kefas, the sister of Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has died after being “accidentally shot” by a police escort during an attempted bandit attack.

Edum News recalls that the incident occurred last Thursday on Kente Road in the Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, when Atsi and the governor’s mother, Jumai Kefas, were traveling.

Gunmen reportedly ambushed their vehicle, and in the process, a police officer assigned to protect the family mistakenly shot Atsi while trying to dislodge the attackers.

Atsi was then rushed to a hospital in Abuja for urgent medical care, but she succumbed to her injuries on Monday night.

According to a source close to the family who confirmed her death, Atsi passed away on Monday night after battling with pains from the tragedy.

The source said, “She passed away last night after battling her injuries. The governor and his family have yet to issue a formal statement, but our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.”
