Six more bodies recovered in Niger Boat tragedy

Six more bodies have been recovered from the boat accident in Niger state, Edum News Reports.

This was reported by the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA, in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA.

According to Abdullahi Arah, the Director General of NEMA, said the bodies were recovered between 6:00 pm on Thursday and 9:00 am on Friday.

He stated that the just recovered 6 bodies have brought the total number of deaths to 42 on Friday morning.

According to him, a search and rescue operation was still ongoing to recover more victims from the water.

Recall EdumNews had reported that a boat carrying 300 passengers with the majority of them being Women and Children who were going for Mawlid Celebration at Gbajibo in Mokwa LGA had capsized.
