Dusan Vlahovic scored twice as Juventus won 3-0 at Verona on Monday, giving them two emphatic wins to begin the Serie A season.
Thiago Motta’s side, who began the season with a 3-0 victory against Como, is the only team with a perfect record after two games and leads the early standings.
The club is hoping to fight for their first Scudetto since 2019/20. Motta took over as head coach after Massimiliano Allegri was fired after an outburst following their Italian Cup final victory in May.
Last season, they finished third in Serie A, their best finish in four years. Just before the half-hour mark, Vlahovic handed The Old Lady the lead at Verona.
Before halftime, Nicolo Savona, a 21-year-old defender making his debut for the team, headed in Samuel Mbangula’s cross for Juve’s second goal.
After being promoted from the youth ranks, Belgian Mbangula has already scored a goal and provided two assists in his first two games for the senior club.
Eight minutes into the second half, Vlahovic’s penalty secured the points.
Juventus hosts Roma on Sunday, it will probably be their toughest test of the first few weeks of the season.
