Senegal has sacked coach Aliou Cisse, Edum News reports.
According to the local football association, the initiative came from Senegal sports minister Khady Diene Gaye who made request to the government not to renew his contract.
Cisse who was a former captain of the national team and Paris Saint-Germain player, took over as coach in 2015.
He was popular for being the coach that led the their Africa Cup of Nations triumph in 2022 and the past two World Cup tournaments.
