American rapper, Sean “Diddy” Combs, also known as P Diddy, has been denied bail and remanded to jail after being arrested on sex trafficking and racketeering allegations.
He appeared in court in New York the same day, a federal indictment was unsealed, alleging he committed kidnapping, forced labor, bribery, and other offenses and he pleaded not guilty late Monday in Manhattan.
Federal Judge, Robyn Tarnofsky heard long arguments from prosecutors and Diddy’s lawyers before deciding that the defendant should remain in federal custody.
The three-count, 14-page indictment alleges racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
The document contained remarkably graphic details, including were he would force sex-trafficking victims to engage in group sex acts with associates of his that he referred to as “freak offs.”
The encounters were so physically exhausting for him and his victims that all “typically received IV fluids to recover”.
There is also alleged criminal conspiracy relied on employees, resources, and influence of the multi-faceted business empire that he led and controlled. The indictment suggests he tasked his employees with providing everything from lubricant to drugs for the alleged “freak offs.” This included his supervisors, security, hotel staff, and assistants.
He has also been sued by people who say he subjected them to physical or sexual abuse but so far he has denied many of those allegations.
The rapper, whose career has been derailed over the past 10 months amid the allegations, through his team had tried to negotiate his release from custody pending trial on three federal counts.
He offered to post a $50 million bond using his Miami home as collateral, wear a GPS monitor, limit travel to New York and Miami but unfortunately it hasn’t worked out yet.
