The House of Representatives has rescheduled its return from recess for Tuesday, September 24, 2024, rather than September 17, 2024, as originally planned.
The Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, sent an internal note informing members of this decision, as directed by the House Leadership.
In line with the duties outlined in the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the House Standing Orders, the House during the recess engaged in extensive constituency outreach across the nation, addressed critical issues of constituent concern, and strengthened oversight of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), according to a statement released by House Spokesperson Akin Rotimi.
“Upon reconvening, the leadership of the House will inaugurate the new board of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) and the Joint Senate/House Ad Hoc Committees on the Petroleum Industry Investigation on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. Further details regarding these activities will be announced during plenary on the day of resumption.
“As the 10th Assembly resumes, it will continue to drive its legislative agenda, focusing on impactful reforms aimed at national development and fulfilling its mandate to the Nigerian people” the notice read.
