A police escort has reportedly shot Atsi Kefas, the sister of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, during an attack by gunmen on Thursday.
Edum News gathered that the incident happened along Kente Road in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State. Jumai, when the governor’s mother, and Atsi who were traveling were ambushed by gunmen.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication specializing in the Lake Chad region, a police officer assigned to escort the family “accidentally shot Atsi” while trying to repel the attackers.
Troop were however able to swiftly intervene and rescue the victims, evacuating Jumai and Atsi Kefas from the scene using an air ambulance.
The Governor’s sister was rushed to the hospital for treatment and is said to be receiving treatment though her current condition remains undisclosed at the time of filing this report.
