Police arrest 11 suspected kidnappers in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended 11 alleged kidnappers and seized several pieces of firearms and a substantial sum of money.

The arrests were related to the kidnapping of a district head on August 14, 2024, who was released two days later.

Police officers collaborated with local hunters to conduct raids on three villages in the Lere Local Government Area, arresting five people and recovering a fake single-barrel pistol, a vehicle, a motorcycle, and many mobile phones.

Six more suspects were taken into custody in a vehicle park in a separate operation, which resulted in the discovery of four fake AK-47 rifles, two English handguns, two pump-action firearms, and a substantial quantity of cash.

They also appreheded a suspected bandit in Tafa, Kagarko Local Government, who confessed to his involvement in cattle rustling and kidnapping.

The State Commissioner Audu Dabigi commended the operatives for their bravery and urged public cooperation.

The arrests and recoveries are a major milestone in the ongoing fight against kidnapping and banditry in Kaduna State, which has been plagued by such issues.
