Peter Okoye of the famed music duo P-Square, has spoken about his continuing conflict with his twin brother, Paul.
In a statement posted on X.com on Monday, Peter denied reporting Paul to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), claiming that his focus was on learning the truth about Northside Music, a hidden corporation reportedly owned by their brother, Jude Okoye, and his wife, Ifeoma.
In the statement, Peter stated, “Before I tell you the complete tale, here’s what I want you to understand.
“It always surprises me when people say, ‘P-Square is constantly bringing their family matters into the public eye.'” Let me clarify this. P-Square is more than simply a family; it is a public brand. While Peter, Paul, Jude, Anita, Ifeoma, Lola, and the rest of our family members are family, P-Square is an entity that belongs to the public just as much as it does to us. “Our fans have played a significant role in our success, so they deserve to know what’s going on with their favorite brand, P-Square.” That’s why it’s understandable that certain portions of our lives are made public. “Now let’s go right to the point. I want to be clear that I never reported my twin brother Paul.
“He indicated that I filed a petition against him, which he claimed prompted the EFCC to request a surety. This statement implied that he was detained, which is incorrect.
“Peter, Paul, and Jude run a management business called Northside Entertainment, which we utilize to oversee all of P-Square’s operations. One day, I discovered another company with the same name, except it was called Northside Music rather than Northside Entertainment.
“This astonished me, so I decided to look into it more. Guess what? To my surprise, the founders and directors of this hidden corporation were Jude Okoye and his wife, Ifeoma Okoye, with Jude’s wife’s family home serving as the registration address”.
Peter revealed that he challenged Paul several times about the corporation and missing royalties, but Paul denied knowledge, claiming that his legal team was only targeting Jude and his wife, the directors of the secret company, and not Paul.
“Still in disbelief, I realized I needed to talk to Paul about it. I approached him at least four times, asking whether he knew anything about this secret company and the location of part of P-Square’s royalties.
“Every time we met, he denied knowing anything about it. I want to set the record straight. I hereby challenge Paul or anybody else to show any petition that I, Peter Okoye, ever made against my twin brother Paul or that contains Paul’s name.
“I’m still writing this in shock because I gave my legal staff precise instructions, including a standing order, that Paul should not be included in my petition.
“Their focus was solely on the primary suspects, Jude Okoye and his wife, Ifeoma Okoye, who were the directors of this secret company, Northside Music.
“I watched and listened to Paul’s interview and was completely flabbergasted, wondering, ‘How does Paul have the nerve to publicly tell lies like this, even with a known and reputable institution like the EFCC?
“He claimed I petitioned him, but that’s not something that ever happened to Paul. The truth is, this was something that actually happened to Jude,” he added. According to Peter, he discovered that millions of dollars and hundreds of millions of Naira had been diverted from their company, Northside Entertainment, into the secret company’s account.
“This was not just a minor issue – it was a massive betrayal that had been going on for several years,” he told me. He stated that, despite his attempts to resolve the situation with Paul and Jude, he was forced to involve the authorities. “I understand Paul is upset because I reported this to the EFCC, and I understand why. However, keep in mind that I had visited Paul and Jude
separately and attempted to resolve this subject with no positive results; in fact, the last time I approached Paul, the conversation became heated, and he stated, and I quote, ‘Peter, go and do your worst.’ At this point, I had no other alternative.
“Jude was then detained after being questioned. He came clean and admitted he had been diverting millions of dollars of our money to this secret company that he and his wife were the director of. All of Jude’s bank accounts were immediately frozen,” he added.
Peter had earlier expressed frustration over Paul’s constant discrediting of his efforts in the group. The brothers have been at odds since their last breakup, with both pursuing solo careers as Rudeboy and Mr. P.
