The Labour Party (LP) candidate in the Ondo November 16 gubernatorial poll, Ayodele Olorunfemi has blamed his failure at the election on Peter Obi and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
Edum News reports that he made the accusation following the declaration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of Ondo Governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday evening declared Governor Aiyedatiwa as the winner of the election after he won all 18 local government areas in Ondo.
According to the final election result by the State Returning Officer, Prof Olayemi Akinwumi, Ayedatiwa polled a total of 366,781 votes to defeat his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 117,845 votes.
While the LP candidate came a distant third with 1,162 votes.
Recall that the LP candidate’s name was returned to the ballot few days before the election following a ruling by the Court of Appeal.
The Appeal Court had dismissed an earlier judgment by the Federal High Court which ordered INEC to recognise Obi’s anointed candidate, Olusola Ebiseni as the LP candidate for the November 16 election.
Speaking after his failure at the poll, Olorunfemi vowed not to forgive the former Anambra State Governor and the NLC for the role they played in his failure at the election.
He further lamented that he couldn’t carryout proper campaign because of the legal battles against his candidacy.
