Nigerians, South Africans Trade Words After Chidimma Emerged 1st Runner Up At Miss Universe 2024

Chidimma Adetshina’s win at the 2024 Miss Universe contest has left social media platforms buzzing as Nigerians and South Africans are at war over the development.

Edum News reports that while Nigerians are celebrating her outstanding performance at the contest, South Africans are excited that Chidimma didn’t make it to the number one position, alleging that Nigerians couldn’t pay their way to get her to win.

Chidimma who represented Nigeria at the 73rd Miss Universe Competition held in Mexico made history on Sunday after she was declared the first runner up in the competition.

The beauty queen clinched to the second position in the contest which was held at Arena CDMX in Mexico City after losing to Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig.

Chidimma was also declared the winner of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania.

Reacting to her win, Chidimma noted that she is proud of herself for the feat, noting that she made history.

“I’m so proud of myself and I just made history,” she said.

The Beauty queen also took to social media to appreciate Nigerians, noting that they are the reason why she is where she is today.

She wrote, “To Nigeria: THANK YOU is not enough for all the support you’ve shown. You picked me up when I was at my lowest. I’ve never opened up much but I was ready to give up on my life but you became my strength.

“On days I never wanted to fight you gave me the strength to fight. I’m so grateful for each and everyone for walking this journey with me. This journey has taught me the power of Unity. I want us to live in a society where we can all accept and celebrate one another.”
