The UK Government is set to deport popular pastor, Tobi Adegboyega, to Nigeria after losing his case against deportation at the immigration tribunal.
Edum News gathered that the UK government had shut down his church, SPAC Nation, after investigations exposed a misuse of funds by the church leadership.
According to the UK authorities, the church was closed down after Adegboyega failed to properly account for more than £1.87 million of outgoings.
The British government also accused the Nigerian cleric of operating failure to operate with transparency.
Following this, reports emerged on Tuesday that an immigration tribunal ruled that Pastor Tobi be deported back to Nigeria after investigations.
Pastor Tobi who arrived the UK on a visitor’s visa in 2005 has lived in the country unlawfully ever since.
While appealing the British government petition against him, the clergyman who is married to a British woman, claimed that deportation would breach his right under the European Convention of Human Rights to a family life and failed to consider his community work with SPAC.
Pastor Tobi’s deportation has been sparking mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media with many lauding the UK court decision while others are against it on the grounds that he should be allowed to still stay with his wife who is a citizen even though the church is shut down.
