The Nigerian Army has compensated the Father of the 16-year-old boy killed by a soldier in Kaduna with N300,000.
Mohammed was shot dead by the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna state, on Tuesday by a soldier attempting to enforce the curfew in the region.
Following the tragedy, the Nigerian Army took responsibility for the occurrence and revealed that the soldier is currently being held pending a thorough investigation in a statement released by Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations.
The Army General said, “Troops were sent to Samaru, Zaria, to disperse a large number of thugs who were throwing stones and burning tires at security officers. They had come to enforce the state government’s curfew. Mohammed was killed, when a soldier fired a warning shot.
“The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has sent a high-ranking delegation to handle the issue”.
But in a recent development, Ismail’s family received N300,000 from the Army as payment for his life, as disclosed on Wednesday by X user @AliyuKwarbai.
