Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senator representing Abia South in the Senate has said that Nigeria would have been better if the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi emerged as the winner of the 2023 election.

Buttressing this claim, the Senator noted that asides from all round economic growth that would have been witnessed under Obi, nepotism which according to him thrives under President Bola Tinubu would have been non-existent under the leadership of Obi.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Abaribe said, “If Peter Obi had won, you probably would have seen a better Nigeria than what we are seeing today.

“Number one, he would not be as nepotistic as this government, he won’t, it’s not in him. That is just who we are, we feel for the other people.”

Giving details on his nepotism claim against the President, Abaribe questioned Tinubu’s appointment of four ministers from only Ogun State when many other states have just one.

He further accused the President of towing the path of nepotism like former president Muhammadu Buhari, adding that it only deepened under Tinubu because Nigerians kept quiet when Buhari started it.

Edum News reports that he further noted that apart from Obasanjo and Jonathan, no president has been fair to the people of South-East and they cannot continue to wait for that.

The Senator therefore advised that rather than waiting for presidents to be fair to the people of the South-East, it is high time people of the zone went back to revamp it, make it more livable and better.
