Mbappe, Vinicius unaffected by criticism –Carlo Ancelotti

Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti said strikers Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior would not allow detractors get them down following a slow start to the season.

New signing Mbappe scored twice in his previous appearance for the club after going three La Liga games without a goal, while Vinicius had one goal in his first four appearances.

“They don’t appear affected to me; they’re training well and are happy.

“Kylian is improving every day,” Ancelotti said during a news conference Friday.

“Many people forget that they began pre-season in the middle of August… they did not have a pre-season; they built their fitness via games. They appear to be in good health and happy”

French sensation Mbappe joined Madrid after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired this summer, and Ancelotti is still figuring out how to get the most out of the forward, who, like Vinicius, prefers to drift in from the left.

So far, Mbappe has started in the midfield with Vinicius in his preferred position, but the Brazilian has lacked energy.

“(Vinicius) is not at his best, but he’s still very important for us. The last thing I’m concerned about is Vinicius’ health; he always works hard, and it’s only a matter of time before he’s at his peak.

“When a player is not 100 percent, the important thing is that he gives all he can.”

Real Madrid will face Real Sociedad in La Liga on Saturday before playing their first Champions League encounter of the season at home against Stuttgart on Tuesday.

Ancelotti stated that midfielders Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni would not be ready for the trip to San Sebastian, but could return later.

“We’ll see in the next few days if they’re available on Tuesday,” Ancelotti continued.
