Ilkay Gundogan is getting close to rejoining Manchester City from Barcelona; the German midfield player has a one-year contract with a one-year option to extend it in principle.
The 33-year-old German wants to return to Man-City and has turned down interest from Saudi Arabia and Qatar as a result.
Once the clubs reach an agreement, there won’t be a fee exchanged.
The 33-year-old was warned he may leave Barcelona, according to a source who revealed the news recently.
Barcelona is looking to move players in order to lower their pay expenditure. Talks are still ongoing as all parties strive for Gundogan to make a spectacular comeback to the squad he played for seven years.
After leading Manchester City to an unprecedented Triple Crown, Gundogan’s contract expired last summer, and he moved for free to Barcelona.
Gundogan, who left Borussia Dortmund to join Manchester City in the summer of 2016, announced his retirement from international football earlier this week.
