The Delta State Police Command has arrested a yet to be identified man for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl in Ubulu-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state, Edum News reports.
This was disclosed by a human rights activist, Mr Harrison Gwamnishu.
He noted that the suspect, aged 50, had forceful carnal knowledge of the minor on Thursday, when she went to her grandmother’s house on the instruction of her mother in Ubulu-Uku.
He stated that upon receiving the report, the girl was first taken to the hospital for medical examination, where it was confirmed that she had been defiled.
The mother of the victim, while narrating her ordeal, stated that she had sent her over to her grandmother’s place after school on Thursday as she had a church event.
She stated that upon her return, her daughter had complained of having pains in her buttock and upon inspection, she found sperm in there.
She further disclosed that upon further questioning, she revealed who did that to her, and then reported the matter.
Gwamnishu however noted that the suspect will be transferred to the State Police headquarters immediately after the Division are done with their preliminary investigation.
He stated, “On Friday we swiftly responded to a complaint of defilement of a four-year-old child by over 50-year-old man.
“We first took the child to a government hospital where she was examined and the doctor/nurses confirmed that the child has been altered (Penetrated).
“We left the hospital and arrested the man and allowed the girl to show us who touched her and she pointed the man.
“We immediately handed him to Divisional Police Headquarters, Ogwashi Uku where he’s currently detained,”
“He will be transferred to the State Police headquarters immediately after the Division are done with their preliminary investigation.”
