Former Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro has said that Atlanta forward, Ademola Lookman is more technical than his Super Eagles teammate and Napoli attacker, Victor Osimhen.
Peseiro, who guided Nigeria to second place in the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast earlier this year, collaborated with both players on the national team and commented on the newest transfer rumors involving both players.
Lookman and Osimhen have emerged as prospective Arsenal acquisitions in the last week, with Peseiro explaining why the club should buy either player.
“Ademola is more technical than Osimhen, more likely to create the game, and he is currently scoring. “He is doing extremely well this year,” Peseiro told SportItalia via Football London. Former Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro
“He grew up with (Atalanta manager) Gian Piero Gasperini; now he’s constantly playing, and we’re pleased with him. At this level, he, too, has the potential to achieve great things.
“It is not a coincidence that they have both grown this year. This is because they are both part of a solid system of play. Atalanta and Napoli want the ball; they want to play and score. In certain circumstances, players become thrilled like this. Italian football has undergone significant changes in recent years”.
According to SportItalia, Arsenal is mulling a £42.5 million bid plus defender Jakub Kiwior to persuade Atalanta to let Lookman go. The player-plus-cash deal comes despite him closing a trade to PSG, resulting in his being dropped for the Italian..
According to Sky Sports Deutschland, the former Everton, RB Leipzig, and Leicester player has agreed to personal terms with PSG, but the Gunners might still entice him back to his hometown if they make a stronger offer.
There is also speculation that Lookman could enter into a financing agreement with the option to buy. Arsenal are thought to be back in the running to sign the Nigerian striker, but it is unclear if the Serie A winner would join the Gunners or their London rivals Chelsea, who are said to be in talks with Napoli to conclude the deal.
