An aide to the leader of the United Kingdom (UK) Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch has said that she is not interested in doing PR for Nigeria.
Edum News reports that Badenoch’s spokesperson said this in response to Vice-President Kashim Shettima‘s criticism against her ‘for denigrating the country.’
Recall that before she was elected leader of the Conservative Party, the British-Nigerian woman had described Nigeria as a socialist nation filled with thieving politicians and insecurity.
She had also accused Nigerian politicians of stealing the Nation’s money to enrich and also fund their luxurious lifestyle while the masses are left to wallow in poverty.
Reacting to this on Monday, the Vice-President berated Badenoch for misrepresenting the country.
The Vice President also compared Badenoch to her predecessor, Rishi Sunak who he described as a “brilliant young man” who never speaks poorly of India, his home of birth.

However, responding to Shettima on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Badenoch said the politician stood by her statement.
Her spokesperson said, “Kemi is not interested in doing Nigeria’s PR; she is the leader of the opposition in the UK. She tells the truth. She tells it like it is. She’s not going to couch her words, and she stands by what she says.”
