The Kano State Government has filed fresh charges against Abdullahi Ganduje, the APC National Chairman, for allegedly stealing N57 billion.
Murtala Garo, Kano State’s Commissioner for Local Government, and two others are also named on the charge sheet alongside Ganduje, the state’s immediate past governor.
Garo, Lamin Sani, and Muhammad Takai were accused of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, false statement or return, and criminal misappropriation.
The state administration also accused them of mismanaging 44 local governments’ statutory allocations from the Federation Account, which were transferred to the State Joint Local Governments account.
They were equally accused of illegally transferring N57.4 billion through the personal accounts of local government cashiers, personal and corporate accounts as well as converting some of the cash to dollars for their own advantage.
The state further claimed that they purchased a multi-billionaire hotel in Jabi, Abuja, located on the Murtala Muhammad Way, a commercial unit at Akoya Oxygen – x20868 Dubai in Tigerwood, and plot 2201 Floor 22 Damac Height, Marsa Dubai Marina.
