The Security Council of Kaduna state has imposed a 24-hour curfew in the state and Zaria cities as a result of growing security concerns.
The council, as directed by Governor Uba Sani, presented details that show that criminals have taken over the protests and are breaking into stores and damaging private as well as public properties.
The public is reassured by the council that the curfew will be reviewed when necessary and that the situation will be continually monitored.
The protests that started peacefully have recently turned violent as Protesters are marching along Junction Road towards Ahmadu Bello Road while shouting, “Tinubu ze soka’ kaa’sa” and “Tinubu yaa’so’ka, mu’na so soja.” The Nigerian flag has also been spotted being torn and burned by the protesters.
In order to control the crowd of protesters, six police vans with anti-riot police officers inside were seen blowing sirens.
Also, additional police officers were placed at various points along Ahmadu Bello Road heading to the Central Market.
The Kaduna State Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA) and the Kaduna State Traffic Laws Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA) were among the government properties that were plundered.
