Port Harcourt Refinery Finally Begins Production

The popular Port Harcourt Refinery which has been under rehabilitation for years now have finally commenced processing crude oil production.

The development was made public by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Femi Soneye, on Tuesday.

Soneye revealed that the refinery has kicked off with 60 percent capacity, adding that truck loading will also commence today

He said, “Today marks a monumental achievement for Nigeria as the Port Harcourt Refinery officially commences crude oil processing. This groundbreaking milestone signifies a new era of energy independence and economic growth for our nation,” Soneye said on Tuesday.

“Hearty congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NNPC Board, and the exceptional leadership of GCEO Mele Kyari for their unwavering commitment to this transformative project. Together, we are reshaping Nigeria’s energy future!”

The NNPCL also disclosed that they are “working tirelessly to bring the Warri Refinery back online soon.”

Edum News reports that this development has sparked mixed feelings amongst Nigerians as many are excited that it will help in the reduction of the price of fuel while others are of the opinion that it won’t cause any significant change as the price might continue to skyrocket.
