JUST-IN: Four Labour Party Reps Defect To APC

Four House of Representatives members under the platform of the Labour Party (LP) on Monday dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Edum News reports that the four Lawmakers announced their defection during plenary on Thursday.

They are Esosa Iyawe (Edo), Tochukwu Okere (Imo), Donatus Matthew (Kaduna), and Bassey Akiba (Cross River).

Similarly, a lawmaker, Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu (Delta), dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC.

Giving details on their defection, the now APC Lawmakers cited division within the Labour Party as the main reason for their defection.

Recall that after over 20 years of its formation, Labour Party made it into mainstream politics during the 2023 elections as the party got six Senate and over 34 House of Representatives seats.

The giant stride is following the massive support garnered by it’s Presidential Candidate in the election, Peter Obi.
