The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed plans to set up a mobile examination malpractice tribunal in order to address examination malpractice and other violations.
The tribunal, which was part of a recent policy meeting in Abuja, will deal with the criminal aspects of violators.
The plan, which seek to address examination malpractice will tackle issues like impersonation, widespread cheating by certain people, extended investigation and prosecution, impersonation and substitution of real candidates by paid examination takers, and fraudulent activities of CBT owners.
Also, the board will be introducing Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies in an effort to enhance the administration of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The JAMB network may be accessed by candidates using their personal devices, which would reduce the amount of money needed to invest and will promote digital literacy.
Also, in order to prevent fraud, the JAMB QR scanner will be used to identify fake admission letters and result slips; it will also be used to verify the security features on documents.
The board said “The JAMB scanner would scan these documents with a view to authenticating and verifying the security features on the documents such as the name, registration number, institution/programme and genuineness of documents paraded with a view to preventing unsuspecting members of the public from being defrauded,”
