The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has criticized the “IgboMustGo” campaign in Nigeria, calling for a referendum to allow the Igbo people leave the country.

The group claims that Igbo people are already and the South-West government is ignoring the campaign and those backing it.

The group also claims that powerful people in the Federal and State governments of Lagos are funding the “IgboMustGo” movement.

IPOB Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, stated that Ndigbo are ready to exit Nigeria peacefully and democratically, but may remain hostile neighbors if forced to exit violently.

The group believe that the ongoing “EndBadGovernance” protest in Nigeria was organized by Yoruba and Fulani to lure Ndigbo into destruction, but Ndigbo has learned their lessons and is not being targeted.

They called on the international community to recognize the existential threat against Ndigbo in Nigeria and urged them to channel their energy in convincing President Tinubu to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and schedule a date for a Biafra referendum.

They argue that silence on the request for the Biafra referendum indirectly supports killing of the Ndigbo and Biafrans, and that the current generation of Biafrans is determined to defend themselves from those who want to kill them.
