Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has sued the former Senator who represented Anambra South, Andy Uba, and two others, for alleged N400 million fraud.
According to reports, the move by the IG of Police is following the petition by one George Uboh who was allegedly defrauded by Uba and his accomplices.
Edum News reports that Egbetokun named Crystal Uba and Benjamin Etu as second and third defendants in a two-count charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/538/2024 filed before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
According to count one and two, the trio together with one Hajiya Fatima (now at large), sometime in 2022, conspired amongst themselves to defraud Uboh of N400 million with claims that they had perfected ways to ensure his appointment as the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The count further reads, “A presentation which you know is not true. You obtained the money and converted it into your own personal use and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1 (2) and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related offences Act, 2006.”
After listening to the parties involved in the matter on Tuesday, Justice Ekwo adjourned their arraignment until February 18, 2025.
