Engr. Marvellous Omobayo has stated that he is still the legitimate Edo State Deputy Governor and continues to carry out his official duties as required by the Federal Republic of Nigeria Constitution.
The Deputy Governor made the statement during a solidarity visit by the leadership and members of Edo State’s three recognized transport unions which include the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), and for the Edo State Drivers Welfare Scheme.
Omobayo indicated that he was not distracted by the ongoing dispute involving the Office of the Deputy Governor.
He said that his main goal is to assist Governor Godwin Obaseki in transforming the State and bringing about economic prosperity.
He appreciated the union for providing him unwavering support since he assumed office as deputy governor.
Earlier, RTEAN Chairman Comrade Monday Orhue and his NURTW counterpart, Chief Odion Olaye, stated that unions have decided to make a solidarity visit to the Deputy Governor to show their full support for Governor Obaseki and to vote on Omobayo’s legitimacy and recognition as Edo State’s Deputy Governor.
