He said that the most recent flash flood in the area caused the displacement of homes.
Goje stated that a comprehensive evaluation of the damage inflicted by the recent flood in the towns of Yusufari, Wagir, Mutai Chirokusko, Bade, and Potiskum was still in progress.
“SEMA is conducting daily review meetings to assess the situation, update stakeholders and come up with immediate response plan in line with vulnerabilities of affected locations and resources available on ground,” he said.
He further disclosed, that plans are well advanced to provide relief supplies to the impacted areas within the next 24 to 48 hours, following Governor Mai Mala Buni’s directive.
According to Goje, financial compensation for the victims will soon start as “community keepers” were already verifying the beneficiaries’ list to guarantee accountability and transparency in the process.
