Kamala Harris held a star-studded event hosted by talk show queen, Oprah Winfrey in an attempt to impress voters, while competitor Donald Trump chastised Jewish Americans for not voting for him.

Jennifer Lopez, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Chris Rock, and Ben Stiller praised the Democratic vice president via screens.

Sitting on a chat-show-style stage, Winfrey began by questioning Harris about what appeared to be a sudden surge in confidence — “a veil or something dropped” — after she succeeded President Joe Biden as contender.

“We each have those moments in our lives when you have to step up,” the 59-year-old Harris replied at the livestreamed “Unite for America” event.

The pair hugged as Harris arrived on stage at the rally in Michigan, one of the seven crucial battleground states that will decide the knife-edge November 5 election.

Harris urged Americans to unite against the “powerful forces that would try to divide us”, represented by Republican former president Trump.

The Democrat then discussed her core campaign topics, which ranged from abortion to the economy, immigration, and gun control, while audience members shared their own experiences.

Harris, a former prosecutor, also made an appeal to gun owners, a significant segment of the electorate in a country with more firearms than people, while calling for a stop to high-powered assault weapons used in a series of school massacres.

Harris joked, “I’m a gun owner too, if anyone breaks in my house, they’re getting shot,” before admitting, “I maybe shouldn’t have said that… My staff will deal with it later”.
