The Katsina State Government has initiated a 30-day sustained combined security anti-terrorism operation in 19 frontline local government areas across the state.

Nasir Mu’azu, the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, made the announcement to journalists after an enlarged State Security Council meeting at Katsina’s Government House late Tuesday.

The meeting, presided over by Governor Dikko Umar Radda, attempted to address the recent increase in bandit attacks, which have taken advantage of the shelter given by the rainy season and abundant harvests.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders from the 19 affected local government areas, including members of the State Security Council, Local Government Chairmen, district heads, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Department of State Services representatives, Vigilante Group Leaders, Katsina Community Watch Corps Commanders, and Civil Defense officials.

Jibia, Batsari, Safana, Danmusa, Dankia, Faskari, Dandume, Sabuwa, Dutsin-ma, Kurfi, Kankara, Musawa, Matazu, Malumfashi, Danja, Bakori, Funtua, Charanchi, and Batagarawa are among the impacted places.

According to Mu’azu, the following resolutions were strongly approved to create a community-based approach to security, using local information and involvement.
