The Nigerian government, through the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has warned petrol retail outlets against servicing Premium Motor Spirit retailers also known as black marketers illegal selling petrol in Abuja, Nasarawa, and Niger states.

NMDPRA issued this warning in a statement through its official X account.

It warned that NMDPRA is battling illegal petroleum product sales, particularly in jerrycans, and is advising filling stations to stop servicing illegal peddlers, as failure could result in retail license suspension.

“NMDPRA embarks on a war against the illegal sale of petroleum products, especially PMS in jerrycans.

“Filling stations are advised to desist from servicing illegal peddlers, failure to do so would result in the suspension of retail licenses,”

This comes as fuel scarcity keeps deepening in the Nation’s capital.
DAIlLY POST checks on Friday revealed that the bulk of filling stations are not distributing petrol, with only a few open for business.

For instance, on Friday, only Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited retail stores were distributing fuel along the Kubwa Expressway.

The development resulted in long lines at the few filling stations that provided petrol.

Recall that two weeks earlier, the NNPCL’s spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, blamed the lack of supply on a problem with a couple of vessels’ discharge operations.

However, fuel scarcity has remained a repeating issue with no permanent solution.
