The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, (FCCPC) on Friday locked the famous Fabsi Table Water facility in Abuja’s Kubwa Area.
In a post on its official X Twitter account, the commission stated that the development came in response to a consumer complaint alleging consumption of expired sachet water contaminated with germs.
The post stated that a subsequent investigation discovered serious violations of consumer protection standards, highlighting the company’s failure to give critical product information such as manufacturing dates, expiration dates, and batch numbers.
The commission also claimed that Fabsi Table Water lacked critical compliance records required to ensure product safety and quality for customers.
Although the company claimed a two-month shelf life for its products, FCCPC insisted that the “absence of production and expiration dates renders this claim unverifiable.
“The company attributed the omission of this critical information to printing challenges, a claim the FCCPC deems unacceptable.
“Accurate and complete product labeling is a fundamental requirement under applicable regulations.
“The FCCPC has temporarily suspended operations at the Fabsi Table Water production facility and summoned the company’s management for further investigation”, the post added.
