31-year old France World Cup winner Raphael Varane, has announced his retirement from professional football, Edum News reports.
He made this announcement on social media on Tuesday, stating that a new life begins for him off the pitch.
Recall that the former Real Madrid and Manchester United center-back Varane joined Italian club Como for this season but was then excluded from their Serie A squad having suffered a knee injury in August.
He wrote, “A new life begins off the pitch. “I will remain with Como. Just without using my boots and shin pads.
“Something I am looking forward to sharing more about soon.”
