Eight Including Children Killed In Greece Migrant Shipwreck

Eight people comprising of six children and two women have reportedly died in migrant boat shipwreck in the sea north of Samos, Edum News reports.

The shipwreck was said to have happened in the Plaka-Gremia Megali Panagia area.

Confirming the tragedy, the Greek police revealed that they found 36 survivors on land nearby, adding that the Hellenic Coast Guard also revealed that they rescued 3 survivors from a rocky shore.

Giving details on the tragedy, the Coast Guard disclosed that they were alerted to the incident by a non-governmental organization.

They further estimated that about 50 people were on board the vessel. The rescue operation is still ongoing with the aim of locating and rescuing the remaining missing people.
