Edo ’24: Guber Election Commences

Edo State has commenced it’s governorship election today, Edum News reports. 

The election process began at about 8:00 a.m on Saturday, and citizens of the state have trooped out to cast their votes which is a deciding factor on who will take over the reins of leadership in the state. 

Security personnel have also mounted guard in various parts of the state, to ensure peace and order is maintained throughout the voting period. 

It was gathered that security personnel mounted roadblocks on roads in Benin as early as 6:00 a.m., and began stopping and searching vehicles at the roadblocks, as well as asking the occupants questions in order to ensure security, law, and order during the election.

Recall that necessary steps have been taken by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to beef up security in the State. 

The Defence Corps deployed 6,433 officers and men ahead of the election, to support operatives of the Edo State Police Command.
