Hillary Clinton, former United States secretary of state in the administration of Barack Obama from 2009 to 2013, and the Democrat Party nominee in the 2016 presidential election, has drummed support for Kamala Harris, urging her to defeat the Republican candidate, Donald Trump in the polls, Edum News reports.
She said this while speaking in an interview at the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, stating that defeating Trump will break the fever that he has caused in America’s political system.
Clinton also said the future of democracy is at stake in this election, adding that the election will have repercussions far beyond the US.
She further noted that Joe Biden was right to stand aside in the US presidential election after his stumbling debate performance against Donald Trump earlier this year.
She said, “The two candidates have presented extremely different agendas for where they want to take our country.
The election will have repercussions far beyond the US including whether or not we continue supporting Ukraine, whether we can get some kind of workable resolution in the Middle East and so much else.”
Recall that in 2016, the former US secretary of state was unexpectedly defeated by Trump, who now faces Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in November’s election, which polls suggest is extremely tight.
