The leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress has threatened to suspend operations across the nation if the Nigeria Police detains its President, Comrade Joe Ajaero.

The union issued a warning on Tuesday morning at its headquarters, immediately after having an emergency National Executive Council meeting to consider the police’s invitation to the NLC President over charges of terrorist financing.

The NEC decided that Ajaero should accept the police invitation, but that their legal adviser should request extra time for the NLC President to appear before the police authorities.

Comrade Ado Kabiru Sani, Deputy President of the NLC, urged the nation’s workforce to be ready for further instructions if the police act contrary to their anticipation of detaining Ajaero.
