Black Friday as Gunmen kill humanitarian worker in Benue

Chris Terfa-Ikpu, Executive Director of Concerned Youth Development Initiative, was assassinated by gunmen, according to reports.

Terfa-Ikpu was claimed to have been assassinated on Friday by gunmen who tracked him down to his workplace in the Logo region of Makurdi, the capital of Benue state.

The murdered humanitarian worker was said to have been out of town for a while before returning during the week.

Chris Terfa-Ikpu, the Executive Director of a non-governmental organization, Concerned Youth Development Initiative, was reportedly assassinated by gunmen who traced him to his office in the Logo region of Makurdi, Benue State’s capital.

It was gathered that the suspected gunman made their way inside the office after shooting the security guard on duty.

A reliable source stated: “On arrival, the gunmen asked for Terfa’s whereabouts, but one of his workers led them to his office”.

One of the sources, who claimed to be close to the dead and identified himself as Stanley Chimin, told media in Makurdi on Saturday that the victim had been absent from the state for some time.

According to reports, family members have transported him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The body was deposited at the morgue of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi.

When contacted, neither did the state command’s spokesperson, Catherine Anene, responded to her calls for confirmation nor replied to text messages sent to her cellphone.
