Barcelona is reportedly considering a move to get Brazilian sensation, Neymar back to Camp Nou.
According the Spanish newspaper Sport on Thursday, the possible transfer is being thought of as a backup plan in case the Catalans are unable to get Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
Barcelona has identified Haaland as their “top priority” for the summer of 2025, but the potential of reconnecting with Neymar is an enticing opportunity.
When the 32-year-old Brazilian’s contract with Al Hilal expires next summer, he will be able to choose his next destination without incurring transfer costs as a free agent.
“With dreams of making Brazil’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, a return to Barcelona may be the ideal method for him to stay match-fit in the months running up to the tournament.
“Neymar is currently preparing for his return to action, having spent a year on the sidelines after rupturing his cruciate ligament,” the sports network said in a Thursday article.
Meanwhile, Manchester United is working to ensure the future of defender Harry Maguire. According to Football Insider, the Red Devils intend to grant the 31-year-old center-back a one-year extension to his current contract.
Maguire, who joined United for a reported £80 million from Leicester in 2018, has seen his position at Old Trafford dwindle in recent seasons.
“The England international almost went to join West Ham for £30 million last summer, but the agreement collapsed, and United are now hoping to trigger an extension of his contract so he doesn’t depart for free at the end of the season”.
