Afrobeats global sensation Ayra Starr has joined the expanding list of music singers venturing into Nigeria’s film industry, Nollywood.
The 22-year-old Grammy-nominated artist will make her acting debut in Prime Video’s original ‘Christmas In Lagos’.
Teniola Aladese, Shalom C. Obiago, Rayxia Ojo, Shaffy Bello, and Adekunle Gold will co-star in the romantic comedy.
It follows newly broken-hearted Fiyin (Aladese), who believes her best friend, Elo (Obiago), is the love of her life.
The film was shot in Lagos and directed by Jadesola Osiberu. Osiberu told Variety that Ayra Starr embodies the essence of being young, female, daring, brave, and fearless, embodying her individuality from the start.
In his words: “For me, Ayra Starr represents what it means to be young and female and daring and brave and fearless – just being yourself. She was on the list from day one,”
Other musicians making appearances in the film include Wurld and Liya, and the soundtrack includes songs by famous singer Sunny Ade, Afrobeats superstars Flavour and D’banj, and more.
