Tom Craig, an Australian Olympic hockey player, has been slammed with 12-month ban for allegedly purchasing cocaine during the Olympics Games in Paris.

Craig’s ban began on Monday, according to Hockey Australia (HA), which claims it was the result of an integrity unit inquiry into his arrest from August.

Also he is expected to complete rigorous training and education sessions.

The agency stated: “Six months of this suspension will be served fully, with the remaining six months fully suspended, contingent upon meeting conduct and behavioral requirements,”

According to HA, despite the athlete being barred from competition, he would still be able to be chosen for the 2025 national squad, which is anticipated to be revealed at the end of the year.

After being warned and freed from police custody in Paris, Craig quickly left the athletes’ village and apologized to his family and teammates.

The 29-year-old was a member of the Australian squad that took home the silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics and has played in over 100 games for his country.
