British professional boxer Anthony Joshua has been served a temporary suspension from boxing after his brutal knockout against Daniel Dubois.

The fight which took place at Wembley Stadium, had lots of fans hoping that Joshua’ would win gold for the first time since losing to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 but was outmatched by Dubois in his first title defense.

The suspension is said to be a standard practice in the UFC and among boxing’s regulatory organization for fighters who lose by either a knockout or a technical knockout, based on Assocation of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports.

According to the Mirror, Joshua will now have to take a long break from participating in any capacity. A minimum of 28 days out from the ring.

Although the suspension is unlikely to have a significant impact, he has vowed to continue fighting. And despite his desire to reclaim the title, some predict Joshua may retire soon, having been undefeated since his 2019 loss to Andy Ruiz.
