Ben Affleck, an American actor, and Jennifer Lopez, a singer, are reportedly finalizing their divorce file after months of breakup rumours.
According to the Daily Mail, the 51-year-old ‘Last Duel’ actor and the 55-year-old celebrity singer are finalizing their divorce after a failed reconciliation attempt in recent weeks.
According to sources, the couple’s divorce papers are “finalized, but not yet turned in.”
The disclosure follows Affleck’s acquisition of a new $20.5 million ‘bachelor pad’ mansion in the Pacific Palisades on Wednesday, July 24, the day Lopez turned 55.
Lopez’s friends said Affleck’s surprise bachelor home purchase on her birthday was a “stab to the heart.”
His purchase occurred just days after the couple listed their Beverly Hills property for $68 million with other reports that Lopez sold her four-bedroom New York City penthouse for $23 million on July 24.
According to a source close to the couple, they finalized the divorce papers with her a month ago but are waiting for the appropriate time to drop them.
At that time, they issued a joint statement proclaiming their love for each other and admitting that they tried but failed to make things work.
Eventually, they were unable to reach a deal. “What they had before is gone, and they have both accepted it,” another source said.
The two were last seen together on March 30. They have now spent the summer apart, with Jennifer on the East Coast and Ben at home in Los Angeles.
They even celebrated their second wedding anniversary on July 16th in various cities. Reports of Affleck and Lopez’s marital issues first appeared in May, when a source close to the couple stated Ben had moved into a $100,000 rental and the couple intended to sell their ‘dream home’.
Affleck’s property was only a short drive from his ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s Brentwood residence. The couple was married from 2005 till 2018, and they had three children: Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12.
